A 20-member squad of Columbus Crew youth players are competing Aug 3 - 9 at the GACup.  This annual tournament, sponsored by adidas, brings all MLS clubs together for a week-long competition that culminates in the champions earning a trip to Spain. 

The Crew’s squad advanced to the semi-finals against Toronto on the 7th after going 3-0 in group play.  The Crew beat Seattle Sounders 4-1, Real Salt Lake 3-1, and Philadelphia Union 2-0.  After a 1-1 tie in regulation in the semi against Toronto, the Crew lost in pentalty kicks.  On Thursday, the Crew beat San Jose 3-2 after a 60-yard solo attack by Ben Swanson in stoppage time to secure the 3rd place finish.

Nate Kohl, CSA U16 player from Hilliard, OH earned the tournament's "Golden Boot Award", scoring 6 goals on the week.

The boys enjoyed a tour of Seattle Sounders stadium, including a chance meeting with Sigi Schmid.  They also experienced the excitement in CenturyLink Field at the Sounders/Galaxy game.
